Father George to Attend CREDO Conference

Father George has accepted an invitation to attend a CREDO conference from April 30 - May 6, 2013 at the Lake Logan Episcopal Center located in Canton, North Carolina. The eight-day conference provides participants with the means to find direction and clarity in four component areas: spiritual, health, vocational, and financial. CREDO provides a foundation for participants to embrace wellness and to prayerfully discern the direction of their vocation.

CREDO was founded in 1997 as a pilot program funded by The Church Pension Group. Episcopal clergy, deacons and bishops from virtually every diocese in the country have taken advantage of the CREDO benefit. Participants are selected from all active clergy with more than one year in the Pension Fund. The Church Pension Fund pays all but $500 of the conference costs, and the Diocese of Florida will be paying the remainder.

Father George will join approximately 30 other clergy in the CREDO conference. Over the course of the conference, participants will meet in plenary sessions, small groups and private consultations with faculty members. Participants also have ample quiet time to reflect on their personal and professional lives. Each participant commits to extensive reflection through pre-conference instruments and surveys that focus on personal and professional wellness. Through this discernment and visioning process, and with the help of a faculty team of professionals, each participant builds a CREDO Plan a personal covenant based on his or her CREDO work and a formal expression of the CREDO experience.

Congratulations to Cameron Simpson for winning 1st place in the Holy Smoke BBQ Youth Hamburger contest. The DioceseTrophy will be displayed in the Church Parish Hall for a full year until the 2014 Contest!

Ride for Freedom and Reconciliation

Youth Bus Tour Hosted

All high school students (including rising freshmen) in the Diocese of Florida are invited to join Bishop Howard and Canon Wiley Ammons in June for the "Ride for Reconciliation & Freedom." This special journey will take participants to several historic places in our Diocese that played a part in the Civil Rights struggles of the past, with a special emphasis on the Episcopal churches that were actively involved with strengthening race relations. Other stops of the journey include the DeSoto Tour at Camp Weed, the Amelia Island Museum of History, the A.L. Lewis Historical Society, historical American Beach, the Old City Cemetery, The Ritz Museum, St. Augustine Ghost Tour, FAMU Archives and special presentations by Civil Rights experts. Busy Hands will meet on Saturday, May 11 from 9am to 3pm. If you like knitting, crocheting or sewing, this is the place for you.

Sign Up Sheets

New coffee hour and altar flower sheets are posted for 2013. Let’s see if we can do better this year than we did last year.

Ladies Wine & Cheese

The sign up sheet for our Ladies Wine & Cheese is on the bulletin board. We need 2-3 volunteers for July, and October. Five or six on a team can handle the food. We had to cancel January because of lack of interest. Let’s not let this opportu-nity for fellowship pass us by. Everyone brings their own drink and special glass if they like. Bring your friends at 6pm July 11 for a fun time!

Men’s Night Out

Men, this is a reminder that our next men’s dinner is Tuesday May 28^th, always the fourth Tuesday of the month. At our last meeting we agreed that we would have a fish fry on the 28^th. Jym Kent and I will do the leg work for the fish fry, all you have to do is bring a few bucks to cover the expenses. If you want to help with the cooking duties just send me an email and we will work out a plan. THX, JOE<><

N/A Meetings

The Wednesday and Friday night meetings begin at 7:30pm and a new Ladies meeting has been added at 5pm on Saturdays.

Daughters of the King

The next meeting will be on May 14th at 6pm. All ladies of the church are invited to attend for the meeting, dinner and study.

Ushers Needed

We have a few spots available for new ushers. We need one in July for the 10am services, two in September at 11am services and two in December, one at 9am and one at 11am. These December ushers will also cover the Christmas Eve services at 6pm and 11pm. Please notify the church office if you are willing to serve at 362-1837.
