Ministry Announcements from The Rev. Phyllis Doty & The Rev. Lydia Bush
Dear St. Luke’s Family, We need to join together to pray for our friends in Cuba. The COVID 19 has been pretty well controlled, so not too many people sick from the virus, but they are suffering from the side effects. Cuba has closed it doors to the rest of the world and will let no one in because of the virus. The result is that they have no food on the shelves, no soap of any kind, pretty much they have nothing at all. Tulia says that she gets barely enough rice for her family each week. If they want anything else they have to stand in line for 6 hours or more and hope that whatever they want will still be there when their turn comes.
Tulia says that Suzanna is just desperate to find freedom and is very discouraged. Tulia is not able to help her much because she, too, is very desperate and discouraged. Please pray that God will encourage them and give them a deep sense of His presence within them to protect and provide for them as only He can. Thank you. Phyllis
P.S. I just heard from Tulia again and she is still waiting in lines to buy anything. Today it was two and half hours in the rain to get a package of hotdogs. However, there is good news too. They expect to open the church for services the middle of July and on Monday, the 29th of June, they will again be able to make pure water available to the people. During the close-down they were able to give water to a few church members who live close by, but they are excited to be able to give it now to the whole community. Thanks be to God, and keep praying!!!
